Our Independent Opinion

Regent Seven Seas

Seven Seas Mariner

The basics
Seven Seas Mariner was the world’s first all-suite all balcony ship when she entered service in 2001, and has proved very popular with Regent Seven Seas Cruises’ loyal clients. The Seven Seas Mariner is the largest ship in the Regent fleet, and accommodates 700 guests in all-inclusive luxury. The spa is run by Carita de Paris, and offers a wide selection of excellent treatments. The Regent Travel Concierge service is excellent – they can custom design virtually any shore request, shore excursion or trip.

We like
We love the Observation Lounge on deck twelve for a quiet spot to read or watch the scenery pass by, and the Stars nightclub for some dancing. We like the spacious suites and public spaces that this larger ship provides, along with the alternative dining options and choice of bars and lounges. The large pool deck with 3 whirlpools and a swimming pool is a great place to relax on sunny sea days – do try lunch at the excellent pool grill – delicious.

What you should know
Children are welcome on Regent, and they operate their Club Mariner children’s programme during the summer on select sailings.

May we suggest
You book to eat at Latitudes, featuring Indo-Chinese cuisine, where you can see the chefs preparing your meal, or even participate. There is no cover charge to eat at Latitudes, but book early as it is very popular.

Recommended for
Seven Seas Mariner is for clients who like the amenities and variety of public spaces that a larger ship can provide, yet who still want the all-inclusive luxury and exemplary service you get on a 6-star vessel.

Seven Seas Voyager

The basics
Seven Seas Voyager boasts all-suite all-balcony accommodation like her slightly larger Sister Seven Seas Mariner, however her suites are slightly larger thanks to having only a single corridor on her passenger decks unlike the Mariner that has two. She carry’s 700 guests with 447 crew, and entered service in 2003. Sevens Seas Voyager offers spacious suites and public spaces that a larger ship can provide, along with the alternative dining options and choice of bars and lounges. The spa is run by Carita de Paris, and offers a wide selection of excellent treatments.  Regent Travel Concierge service is excellent – they can custom design virtually any shore request, shore excursion or trip.

We like
As with Seven Seas Mariner, we love the Observation Lounge on deck eleven for a quiet spot to read or watch the scenery pass by, and the Voyager Lounge for some easy listening music by the ships pianist. The large pool deck with 2 whirlpools and a swimming pool is a great place to relax on sunny sea days – do try lunch at the excellent pool grill – delicious.

What you should know
Children are welcome on Regent, and they operate their Club Mariner children’s programme during the summer on select sailings.

Again, as with her sister ship, ensure you book to eat at Latitudes, featuring Indo-chinesea cuisine, where you can see the chefs preparing your meal, and even participate There is no cover charge to eat at Latitudes, but book early as it is very popular. Voyager also boasts 4 alternative restaurants, and we love them all.

Seven Seas Navigator

The basics
The crew and staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome and this ship has a very friendly atmosphere. The spa is run by Carita de Paris, and offers a wide selection of excellent treatments, and is located next door to the gym – well equipped and nicely laid out. On sea days the pool area complete with whirlpools, and lunch at the pool grill is always excellent. Other dining options include the Portofino Grill and Compass Rose restaurant.

We like
For great views, Galileo’s lounge up on deck eleven, plus evening entertainment by way of the ships pianist.

What you should know
The Seven Seas Navigator is both smaller and older than her sisters, the Seven Seas Mariner and Seven Seas Voyager, carrying just 490 guests with a crew of 345, she entered service in 1999.

Recommended for
We would recommend Seven Seas Navigator for clients who like a smaller, boutique style ship with great service, style and ambience.

Paul Gauguin

The basics
Paul Gauguin is the smallest ship in the Regent fleet of luxury ships – carrying just 320 guests with a crew of 215. She entered service in 1998 and sails the waters of French Polynesia. She is a warm and friendly ship, and the layout inside reflects that of a promenade, with bars, shops and the spa coming off this main thoroughfare.

We like
The intimacy of the small piano bar and casino, and food in any of the three dining areas is superb.

What you should know
Paul Gauguin does not have the breadth of facilities of found on other Regent vessels

Recommended for
Clients who wish to explore the islands of French Polynesia, in one of the best ships to ply the waters of the South Pacific
