Our Independent Opinion
Silver Cloud & Wind
The basics
Silver Cloud and sister-ship Silver Wind are small ships, carrying just 296 guests, with a crew to passenger ratio of 1:3 and a high space ratio of 57.1, meaning there is plenty of room for everyone.
We like
These small, intimate ships have a very friendly onboard atmosphere. You quickly make friends with your fellow guests and the crew and the staff are excellent. Food is of the highest quality and Silversea have become renown for it.
What you should know
Entertainment is low-key, no big Las Vegas style shows or big productions- more in keeping with the sort of clientele the ship attracts, so expect pianists, music for dancing, acclaimed singers and guest lecturers. These ships do not encourage children, although they are occasionally seen onboard.

You book in for an evening meal at Saletta, it's worth the nominal cover charge for a delightful culinary experience.

Silver Cloud and Silver Wind are recommended for the discerning client who wants all-inclusive 5-star quality in an intimate and friendly environment.
Silver Shadow and Whisper
The basics
Silver Shadow and sister ship Silver Whisper are slightly larger than the Cloud and the Wind, and entered service in 2000 and 2001 respectively. They both carry 382 guests, with a crew to passenger ratio of 1:3 and a very high space ratio of 72.8.
We like
We really enjoyed the classical pianist and singer in the main show lounge, as well as the pianist in The Bar - a great place for a pre dinner cocktail or an evening drink. Do book in for an evening meal at Le Champagne, there is a small cover charge and the food and service are out of this world. Veranda Suites are spacious, and the beds very comfortable with cosy duvets and even a pillow menu to choose from..
What you should know
The atmosphere and ambience onboard is hard to put into words - after a day or two you become seduced by the pampering, the first-class service and the warm hospitality. Beware when you reach a port of call it may be hard to leave the ship.

The Silver Shadow was the first of the fleet to have the spa area upgraded and it is well worth a visit, for both ladies and gentlemen (the new spa concept has since been added to all ships). Treatments are varied and affordable. We would suggest you book early as they can get quite busy on nights and days at sea
