Entertainment
The delightfully informal, unhurried and unregimented way of life of Polynesia is emulated on board. A visit to the ship’s Fare Tahiti Gallery, featuring Polynesian art and artefacts, will introduce you to the islands’ colourful heritage. The pool invites you to an early morning dip while you can enjoy a full range of complimentary watersports at the state-of-the-art retractable watersports platform.
Guest Lecturers
Each cruise is hosted by a special guest lecturer to provide fascinating insights and a greater understanding of the Polynesian people
Ambassadors of the Environment
The Ambassadors of the Environment Youth Circle of Interest is a unique, ground-breaking program that introduces young travellers and their families to extraordinary natural wonders while demonstrating imaginative ways to build environmental sustainability into their lives back home. The program aims to give young participants direct, hands-on experiences and knowledge of marine eco-systems, while emphasizing the critical importance of conservation.
Parents are encouraged to join the excursions. The leaders of this program are naturalists for Jean-Michel Cousteau’s Ocean Futures Society, with college degrees in the sciences, extensive experience in teaching marine ecology, and most importantly, these guides will share with you and your families the joy and magic of the French Polynesia’s coral reefs. The program is offered on select sailings, including summer and holiday voyages.
Watersports Platform
Watersports are a highlight of the Polynesian experience. The ship’s small size allows it to navigate in shallow lagoons and narrow channels where larger ships may not sail. With the specially designed retractable watersports platform, guests may descend to sea level where they can conveniently hop aboard a windsurfer, launch a kayak, try a little waterskiing or set out for a SCUBA diving expedition. A scuba certification program is offered on board.
Other Diversions
Play table tennis on deck. Shop for a flower-splashed pareu top to wear to the pool party in the duty-free boutique, or take a lesson in the technique of paddling an outrigger canoe. A wide selection of books is available in the Reading Gallery, and videotapes may be rented at the Reception Area on a complimentary basis
Le Grand Salon
Watch spectacular performances, such as an electrifying Polynesian show featuring the arts of the islands in the main lounge. One night it might be the soaring acappella harmonies of himene songs. Another might feature a thrilling performance of ote’a - a complex line dance accompanied by drums telling the ancestral legends of the Polynesian people. Later in your cruise, you’ll have a chance to learn how to dance in true Polynesian style from the wonderful Gauguines performers.
Casino and Piano Bar
On any evening, pulses run high in the Le Casino. Or when refreshments are in order, the Piano Bar provides a warmly relaxing environment.
La Palette Lounge
Sing along at the piano bar in this spectacular observation lounge atop the ship. At night it’s transformed into a romantic nightclub where a chanteuse sings the Parisian blues and couples sway on the indoor/outdoor dance floor
Lounges & Cigar Bar
Several intimate bars and lounges offer a choice of nighttime amusements ranging from singing by the piano in Galileo’s to dancing to the latest DJ selections in the Stars Lounge. Enjoy a pre-dinner cocktail in the friendly Navigator Lounge accompanied by the relaxing sounds of a harp. Settle into a comfortable English club chair in the Connoisseur Club and light up a hand-rolled cigar.
