Enrichment & Special Interest Cruises
Adding an extra dimension to Swan Hellenic’s imaginative itineraries are their Guest Speakers
Between ports, their talks bring each destination to life, placing a fascinating variety of subjects under the spotlight. Around the Mediterranean and the Black Sea, these might include archaeology and architecture, military and maritime history, literature and language, mythology, music, food and wine.
Around Scandinavia and the Baltic, you’ll learn about Norse gods, the Vikings and the Tsars, or about the geology of Iceland. In Antarctica and Africa, you’ll listen to naturalists and environmentalists sharing their knowledge of animal and bird life, exploring facets of their habitats and migratory habits.
Each of the Guest Speakers has a talent for bringing their subject to life. They will help you understand the bigger picture, setting historical events in context – while sailing past Gallipoli, for example. Or they will explain in detail why things are the way they are – be it a curious plant in the Scilly Isles or an item of ceremonial dress in Zululand.
You’ll hear first hand about their personal experiences, as archaeologists, marine biologists, as explorers or diplomats. Complementing the team of guest speakers will be talented local guides, sharing their expertise and knowledge to give you further insight when you explore ashore.
